Just in Time for New Years!

I tried using light colored fabrics with little splashes of color in this 'grow-your-own' quilt.  It was a lot of fun.  I stitched the entire thing in the ditch, which accentuates each strip of fabric I used.  It is a lovely New Year quilt.

Quilt As You Go!

I had a couple friends come over and we did quilt-as-you go quilts, then we did the bindings.  We learned all about making the binding strips and sewing them to the edge of the quilt. We learned how to go around the corners and make them crisp looking.  I love this silly bird fabric and the huge flowers.  Quilt as you go makes the quilt construction go by very fast, and you cannot see the quilting on the front. You can see it on the back!

Maple Leaves in Time for Fall

I made some big maple leaves. I used left over fabrics from a couple of quilts I made in the last couple of years.  I love using half-square triangles to make different quilt blocks.

Finished the Monster Quilt!

A couple posts back, is a photo of the monster quilt layout on my design wall.  Now it is all done!  The zig-zags did turn out to be horizontal, but I like it fine that way.

Ta-da!  The blue monster fabric is from Where the Wild Things Are.
I do not know the monster characters in the green fabric,
but they sure go well together.

Completed: RW&B Scrappy Quilt

I have lots of red, white, and blue fabrics. I have some great ideas for busting some of that stash. I just finished a scrappy red, white, and blue quilt. It was a lot of fun and I learned you can make kind of pin wheels out of the darks and the lights. I hope you like it!

Make smaller triangles for a better design!

I get more zigzags if I use smaller triangles!
I cut smaller triangles, so now I have more zigzags in this new quilt, I am working on.  I think the up and down zigzags look better than horizontal.  Well, I have got to quit working on this and go to the laundramat.

P.S. I am irritated with Google for changing my photo layouts to be so small. It changes the whole look of my blog, which I work very hard to attain.  I have discovered, however, if you click on the photos you will see them bigger. But it messes up the look of my blog! Arrrgghhh!

New Quilt Coming Up!

I am starting a quilt made with triangles.  A friend has a friend with twin daughters who want monster quilts, so I provided the monster fabric from my stash.  Yesterday we decide she would make one and I would make the other. Hers is with squares and mine is with triangles, so they can tell their quilts apart.  Trouble is deciding on the layout with the fabrics at hand.
Layout 1
Layout 2
Layout 3
I love layout 3, but it does not mix the colors up enough, so I may need to cut smaller triangles, so I have three sections instead of just the two.
Tell me what you think of the three options? Will keep you posted!

Stack N Whack Quilt

A friend of mine showed me how to do the Stack N Whack quilt process.  I picked out some paisley for my quilt last October. It was on Columbus Day.  I started it in November and finally finished it last week.  The way I quilted it was stitch-in-the-ditch.  It took me so long because I have been busy with other things.  I am happy to have it finished. It is awesome!  This is me, Kirsten, and my first Stack N Whack Quilt.
Fabric from Sleepy Hollow Quilt Shop in Marsing, ID,
and from Craft Warehouse in Meridian, ID.
