Christmas Eve Party!!

There are no quilts to show off on this posting.  Jane invited us to her place for a fun time together.  We had cake and punch and played Pin the Binding on the Quilt and Rip the Batik.  We gathered for a group photo in front of the little Christmas tree, atop Janes big dresser.  Her dresser holds lots of fabric!

We had a fun time just hanging out.  It is always fun to get together with friends.

Jane's Sixteen Patch Quilt is Complete

Jane has finished her sixteen patch quilt.  If you look back to the October 11 post, you will see she was trying to determine what color of fabric to use for the sashing/background.  Marsha found some red and white fabric in her stash that she gave to Jane. Jane decided to go with the red, instead of one of the three she auditioned in October.  This is busy and bright, yet fabulous.
I think everyone, except Astrid, has jumped on the knock-your-eyes out colors for their quilts.  I (Kirsten) am working on a churn dash quilt top that again has bright colors.  The four of us enjoy getting together and quilting.  We will keep you posted on our quilting adventures.

Monday's Quilt Meeting A Big Success!

We had Show n Tell at Marsha's house last night.  We hung Astrid's Bow Tie quilt on the wall.  Astrid gave us a demo on how to make the blocks.  It is a lot easier than you would think!  Then we all mugged for the camera, except me, as I was the photographer.  Lovely quilt, Astrid!

I think I made a post last November (2017) of this quilt, when it was on my friend's design wall.  I am happy to have finally got it finished! We had such a fun time at our meeting.

Marsha's Wonky Houses with Cats

Remember Marsha's wonky houses with cats quilt, she had on the design wall?  Well, she got it finished.  It is fabulouso!  The blocks are awesome, and she used the gigantic ric-rac when she did the binding.  The effect is amazing!  She is starting to get wild with her quilt designs and fabrics.

Next week me (Kirsten), Jane, and Astrid are meeting at Marsha's house, so stay tuned for more quilting news.

Sixteen Patch Quilt In Progress

No kidding.  Jane has a sixteen patch quilt in progress.  She is currently auditioning fabrics for the sashing between the blocks.  Here is what she has so far.  If anyone wants to weigh-in on which they think looks the best, please do so.  I am having a wee taddy bit of trouble with the blog program not allowing me to make comments or reply to comments posted.  I hope someday they get that fixed.
Here are the choices:
Yellow with cherries sashing
Blue and white plaid
Gray with tiny red flowers
I am partial to the gray with red, but Jane likes the blue and white plaid. I say it is too much r, w, & b.  Astrid likes both, and Marsha is leaning toward the yellow.  What this means is we need some help.  Jane does not want to go to buy more fabric at the fabric shop.  She is trying to use what she already has on hand.  I get that, but sometimes, you just have to get what looks right, and you may not have it on hand.  But that is just me, Kirsten.

Purple Scrap Quilt

Hi, I am Kirsten and I am a wee taddy bit behind on my blog.  I've been real busy, and so have my buddies Marsha and Jane.  Jane took a photo of Marsha and I holding up my purple scrap quilt.  I admit, it turned out awesome!  Marsha is almost finished with her wonky cat house quilt, she has the whole top finished and has it sandwiched.  She just has to get it quilted.  Jane says she is working on a quilt top, but I have not seen it yet.  She may surprise us yet!

Down on the Farm Quilt

While Marsha has been working on her Wonky Houses quilt, I have finished my Down on the Farm quilt.  I started it a long time ago, then got involved in other projects and left it in a stack of UFOs (un-finished objects).  I am happy to be making progress on some of my previously started adventures and experiments.

Marsha's Design Wall in January

My friend, Marsha, and I are working on a quilt together.  She thought it would be fun making wonky houses with cats.  I really like that idea.  We got together this weekend and we each made the beginning parts (walls and doorways) of some kitty houses.  It was so much fun!  Here is a shot of Marsha's design wall with our project on it.
We chose some fabrics, from our stashes, to use as
roofs, but that is as far as we got this weekend.

Marsha Made a Black & White Quilt for New Years

Happy New Year!  I think scary things are going on in the world, but in the quilting world things are new and enchanting.  So much wonderful fabric and wonderful friends to sew with.  I went over to visit my friend, Marsha, and she had just finished a black and white quilt.  I helped her hold it up, so a photo could be taken of it.  Of course, Gigi had to get in the photo.
Just two fabrics in this whole quilt top.
